20-year-old Bloods gang member was sentenced to 30 years in prison this morning for the brutal torture killing of a Burlington County couple

20-year-old Bloods gang member was sentenced to 30 years in prison this morning for the brutal torture killing of a Burlington County couple in Camden last year.

Darryl Pierre -- who will have to serve at least 25 years of the sentence before being eligible for parole -- said in court today that the killings were "unfortunate."

"I'm sorry and the whole situation was very unfortunate," said Pierre of Merchantville.

Pierre showed no emotion during the sentencing, even as Assistant Camden County Prosecutor Mary Alison Albright held up pictures and the graduation gown of the 18-year-old Cinnaminson teen he helped beat and kill.

Pierre earlier pleaded guilty to participating in the gruesome killings of Muriah Huff and Michael Hawkins, 23, of Mount Holly.

Pierre is one of 10 defendants charged in the killings, which took place Feb. 22, 2010, inside a Camden row home over a period of several hours.
